Prince William of Wales and Catherine Middleton got married at the Westminster Abbey friday. This has been London's biggest wedding in 30 years. A million people lined the wedding route. Queen Elizabeth hosted the wedding reception. The palace announced that there was an eight-tier wedding cake. The couple left the reception in a blue Aston Martin. Catherine is definitely living a fairytale.

Thursday's Discussion

So, i enjoyed the class discussion on Thursday. I didn't think I was going to start it but I did! It was nice to hear about immigration from different points of view. I honestly thought the discussion was only going to be about securing the borders and immigrants "taking" jobs. My classmates were talking about different ideas and statistics about immigration i didn't know about. For instance, I didn't know there were different types of work Visa's for immigrants or how much money immigrants produce for our country. Everyone had really good arguments and i definitely learned a lot more about immigration.

Oprah Questions Obama

April 27th, 2011
05:55 PM ET
Obama and the first lady appeared on the Oprah show today after the release of his birth certificate. He released it because he wanted to put the issue to a rest. Obama declared, "We do not have time for this kind of silliness," and stated,"Can I just say? I was there, so I knew...I knew I had been born. I remembered it," said President Obama. I'm glad our President has somewhat of a sense of humor about it.

Immigration Supporters Rally at State Capitol

TIMES/HERALD TALLAHASSEE BUREAU

A large group of protestors from the Tampa Bay area called on God to prevent lawmakers from passing a immigration crackdown law. They say it will destroy families and lead to racial profiling. The rally started at noon. Children, their families and church leaders chanted "We are Florida!" Their signs had sayings towards SB 2040 and HB 7089. The protestors starting saying the pledge of allegiance and singing the Star-Spangled Banner. “How many of you have faith in God that this law will not pass?” asked Cecilia Perez, a 16-year-old Largo High School sophomore, to an eruption of cheers(miamiherald.com). SB 2040 is a softer approach to immigration. Making being undocumented a misdemeanor.

Published April 21, 2011|Associated Press

The Army and Navy have decided to speed up the citizenship process. Specialists and language skills are needed during wartime. Recruits can now get citizenship more quickly while in boot camp. A no-visitors change will be made to allow immigration officers to meet with the recruits. Military officials say its a break from going around the world and doing deployments. Only legal immigrants can apply and have to serve five years of honorable service or their citizenship will risk getting revoked. About 1,00 soldiers have obtained their citizenship while in basic training,in 2010.

Georgia Passing Strict Immigration Law?

By KIM SEVERSON
Published: April 15, 2011

That's right, Georgia is following in Arizona's footsteps. Governor Nathaniel Deal stated he will sign a tough immigration law. Georgia's bill was modified a bit from Arizona's bill. Arizona was the first state to empower the state and local police to ask for legal documentation and arrest people suspected of not being here legally. 30 states have considered passing an anti-immigration law. Many modeled after Arizona's. Honestly, this is ridiculous. There are other ways to stop illegal immigrants from coming to the U.S. Suspecting someone is illegal and detaining them is simply moronic. These laws need serious modification and shouldn't even be passed until there's absolutely no racist intentions within the bill. No one is ever going to be happy with the issue of Immigration, it's a fact.

Obama's numbers down
Dan Balz and Jon Cohen  Tue Apr 19, 3:00 pm ET

Economic problems are running Obama's approval ratings low. He still has an advantage over the other 2012 candidates. In the survey, 47 percent approve of the job Obama is doing, down seven points since January. Half of all Americans disapprove of his job performance, with 37 percent saying they “strongly disapprove,” nearly matching the worst level of his presidency (news.yahoo.com). Obama is still higher than his potential competitors. "Despite his current advantage over the Republican field, Obama remains vulnerable with an approval rating again less than 50 percent. A majority of those younger than 40 give the president positive ratings, but most of those 40 and older disapprove." Economic issues are Obama's biggest downfall. Raising gas prices are what is upsetting the public.

Raul Castro named 1st secretary of Communist
By PAUL HAVEN, Associated Press – 26 mins ago

Delegates chose 79 year old Raul Castro to take over his sick brother's position. Three younger politicians were basically demoted to lesser leadership roles. Fidel Castro made an appearance. The audience were clapping and some even crying. Fidel became more animated as the proceedings continued, especially when Raul's name was read out by an official announcing members of the party's Central Committee. Fidel was left off the leadership slate for the first time.
But Raul said his brother needed no formal title to continue being the country's guiding light. "Fidel is Fidel," he said(news.yahoo.com).

State attorney general's spokesman, Ruben Dario Rios Lopez said, 10 more bodies were recovered from the clandestine graves Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the total number of bodies found to 126. Interracial Marriage Should be Illegal?

Jon Terbush | April 7, 2011, 4:18PM

Nearly half of Mississippi think interracial marriage should be illegal. While the rest of the nation is dealing with the issue of same sex marriage, people in Mississippi are dealing with this controversy. In a PPP poll released Thursday, a 46% plurality of registered Republican voters said they thought interracial marriage was not just wrong, but that it should be illegal. 40% said interracial marriage should be legal (tpmdc.com). I personally think this is CRAZY! It's now 2011 and we're still dealing with racism. Yes, its in the south and they probably don't see as many interracial couples. Doesn't mean they should make interracial marriage illegal. The article also stated that people think its ok,but it should still be illegal. Ok? That's really um..um...moronic.

Immigration Video Response!

Ok so in 2nd period today we  watched a video on immigration. That video was really hard to watch personally. It made me so upset that people actually mistreat illegal immigrants like that. Minutemen should be stopped! They're comiiting crimes and not getting in trouble for them. I can't believe Jan Brewer, governor of Arizona, didnt even acknowledge the muders of a 10 year old girl and her father. That was a brutal murder and nothing was done. Yes, i understand sneaking in \to the country without legal documentation is illegal, but that doesnt give Minute Men, Border Protrol or anyone the right to harm these people. It just proves how ignorant our country is, and how people haven't chaged after the civil rights movement. SB 1070 is definitely a racist law and needs to be abolished.

Bronx Cobra to be named.

From Laura Batchelor, CNN
April 4, 2011 6:13 p.m. EDT

The Bronx News and The New York Daily Times asked the public to vote on what the name of the Cobra should be.
After getting over 33,000 suggestions. They narrowed it down to five suggestions:

-- Agnes, which is Greek for pure or holy, and is also a reference to St. Agnes.
-- Amaunet, an ancient Egyptian goddess, meaning 'the female hidden one."
-- Cleopatra, the last ruler of ancient Egypt, who supposedly killed herself by means of an Egyptian cobra bite.
-- Subira, which is Egyptian for patient.
-- Mia, an abbreviation for Missing In Action.

I personally like Mia. I think its appropriate for the lost but now found Cobra. (:

Son of Gadhafi taking over Libya?

From Nic Robertson, Senior International Correspondent
April 4, 2011 8:40 p.m. EDT

Saif al-Islam Gadhafi, 38, would take over from his father and help to build reform in Libya. Moammer Gadhafi sent an envoy to the West saying he is testing foreign governments' willingness to accept one of the embattled Libyan leader's sons as his successor, a source close to the Libyan leadership said Monday.
To avoid instability, the transition must "be a gradual handover of power," the source said.
